JCI WORLD PRESIDENT'S SOJOURN IN AREA III
Despite the frenzied schedule of World President Roland Kwemain’s visit that made everyone in Area III fluster in a positive notion, heading south- it became merely productive and meaningful visit in the history of JCI Bicol and the rest of Area III last May 26, 2010.
From the Naga City Airport, World Pres. Roland Kwemain, National Pres. Van Torrevillas and the rest of the National Baord Officers was given a heartwarming welcome from Area III LOM Presidents, AVP Rikko Evangelista, RVP Greg Lipa and Area III Officers together with the whimsical band and dancers of Gov. Lray Villafuerte. The group went directly at Iriga City to unveil JCI Marker of JCI Iriga headed by JCI Mem. Juvy Aben Abion, LO President of JCI Iriga. A sumptuous Filipino breakfast was also served hosted by JCI Iriga.
After which they headed to Provincial Capitol of Camarines Sur where the Cam. Sur Water Sports Complex is located (World’s famous Wakeboarding Spot). In a nice and cozy venue called Villa Del Rey, JCI Naga headed by its LO President, JCI Mem. Vincent Lobrigo and chaired by JCI Mem. Loreto Aquino Jr. hosted the the following Program:
Launching of BedNet Coin Banks with WP. An idea crafted by JCI Naga primarily to address the calling of our JCI organization for “Nothing But Nets” campaign, Area III adopted it as an “Area Project” involving 52 chapters, headed by Area VP JCI Sen. Rikko Evangelista and Past NVP JCI Sen. Mellany Loria. The 2,000 cans which were donated by Cheng Ban Yek Corporation will be distributed to all chapters and each coin bank may generate up to $5-$10 approximately. Prior to launching, 9 local organization chapters poured in donations of Php5,000.00 each, coming from JCI Naga, JCI Naga Cariñosa, JCI Legaspi, JCI Legazpi Dawani, JCI Trece Quintana, JCI Marinduque Morion, JCI San Pedro Portal Key, JCI Daet Kabihug, JCI Daet Bulawan, JCI Puerto Princesa Kiao including our very own National President JCI Sen. Manuel Van Torrevillas. A total of $1,100.00 was raised and presented to the World President during the launching of this very innovative project of Area III for BedNet Campaign.
JCI Iriga and JCI Pili Centurion Induction Ceremony. Area III together with the World President welcomes the two new addition to the family of JCI Bicol Region - JCI Iriga and JCI Pili Centurion. JCI Iriga is a new extended chapter by JCI Legaspi and JCI Pili Centurion is also an extended chapter of JCI Naga. A momentous joint Induction of Board of Directors for both chapters was held and a gratifying inaugural speech was given by JCI Mem. Noemi Marpuri, President of JCI Pili Centurion and JCI Mem. Juvy Aben Abion, President of JCI Iriga. It was another remarkable event having two chapters as new addition to Area III as well, another milestone in expanding and continuing the growth of membership for JCI.
Launching of Yapak ng Pag Aruga. “Yapak ng Pag Aruga” Project is for the benefit of under privilege individuals especially the children who can’t afford to have their own slippers when going to school and helping their parents on their daily chores. Initially, it’s a fundraising project of JCI Naga Cariñosa where we sell one JCI Slippers and we donate the other pair to our chosen beneficiaries. World President Roland Kwemain together with National President Van Torrevillas and JCI Naga Cariñosa members launched the project by cutting its ribbon and signing the first JCI Slipper for donation.
It was indeed another worthwhile experience of Area III having visited by the World President with its innovative programs from the dynamic JCI members! In addition, this historical sojourn was not only to “Meet and Greet” the World President, the aim to promote JCI Programs like Nothing But Net Campaign will solidify the teamwork of Area III in wanting to help our brothers and sisters in Africa. The aim to strengthen JCI presence and branding through community projects, and most of all to retain the membership growth of Junior Chamber International in pursuit to the challenges and programs of our World President, the “Impact of One”.
